This seminar is intended to provide practitioners and title agents with background on title indemnity letters and the establishment of the Virginia Inter-Underwriter Indemnity Treaty. The seminar will explore what title defects are covered by the Treaty, the conditions and stipulations of the Treaty and proper procedures for utilizing the Treaty. The seminar includes discussions on the parties to a trust and why trusts are used; estate and gift taxes; hazards involving judgments against settlors of a trust; and the continuation of title insurance coverage if an individual buys real property and then transfers it into a trust.
