Advocacy

In cooperation with a full-time paid lobbyist and our members, VLTA's Legislative Committee works to identify and pursue legislative and regulatory issues of importance to the land title industry. VLTA collaborates with a variety of other entities to accomplish its legislative goals, including the Virginia Bureau of Insurance, the Virginia Clerks Association, the Housing Commission, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Virginia Insurance Continuing Education Board, and more.

Political Action Committee

The Virginia Land Title Association Political Action Committee (PAC) is the voluntary, non-partisan committee that works to raise money to help elect and re-elect candidates in our Commonwealth who understand and support the issues affecting the title industry. VLTA encourages all members to learn more about the VLTA PAC, get involed with the committee and make a donation to help.

VLTA Day on the Hill

February 2, 2022 beginning at 7:00 am

VLTA Lobby Day connects the Virginia title insurance community with Virginia legislators. Representatives enjoy speaking with constituent resources with whom they can rely for information on proposed legislation. VLTA will coordinate 10-15 minute appointments with Senators and Delegates to discuss relevant issues. VLTA will equip you with talking points before you embark on your appointments. Members of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to participate.

Title Action Network

In the current political climate it is critical that regulators, legislators, and Members of Congress hear directly from their constituents on important issues. Writing to your legislators and regulators is easy and makes an enormous difference in the advocacy efforts of ALTA and state land title associations.

  • The Title Action Network (TAN) is an energized movement of title insurance industry professionals promoting the industry’s value and protecting homeownership rights.
  • From city halls and state houses, to Washington, D.C., elected officials make decisions that impact our industry, our customers and consumers.
  • That’s why it’s vital for the title insurance industry to speak with one voice about the role we play in the real estate process.
  • It’s easy to become a member and you don’t have to be an ALTA member to enroll.
