Who We AreVirginia Land Title Association, founded in 1974, is the state trade association for the land title industry. VLTA members search, review and insure home buyers and mortgage lenders who invest in real estate.
VLTA members are agents, abstractors, examiners, underwriters, attorneys, and others who assist in the selection of a title insurance policy to protect land ownership. Agents perform the settlement or closing in the purchase of residential or commercial real estate.
VLTA members advocate safe and efficient transfer of title and insist on high standards when searching land title records and preparing insurance documents. The industry seeks to eliminate risk before insuring, which provides the insured with the best possible chance of avoiding land title problems. But, title difficulties do occur, and members offer both owner’s and lender’s title insurance as effective safeguards.
Our Mission
The mission of the Association is to advance the efficient and secure transfer of ownership of real property by proactively serving its members, the consumer, and affiliated associations.
